Overview

Next-Generation Shortwave Therapy

Ultratherm® sets new standards in its class, built around a high-performance solid-state amplifier as its energy source. This lets clinicians choose between two shortwave techniques — capacitor (condensor field) or coil (induction field) — from a single, space-saving, ergonomic unit.

Treatment Indications

Shortwaves can be applied to both superficial and deeper tissue layers. Myopathies can be treated in the same manner as joint diseases — and when used as intended, the application is, unlike drugs, without any side effects.

The solid-state amplifier delivers uniform, highly effective output power in both continuous and pulsed modes, with continuously adjustable output power for precise dosing. A dynamic matching indicator and constantly-displayed heat-effective output power value give the clinician full visual control over the therapy throughout the session.

Operation runs through a 12" capacitive touch-screen with clear graphic display, program memory, and an application menu featuring pictograms that guide correct electrode placement — keeping setup fast and consistent across patients.

An optional universal electrode, the Diplode®, extends treatment versatility further: its large 400 x 225mm active area treats extensive trunk tissue and muscle in a single session, while its three independently adjustable partial areas let it be shaped to the body — from flat trunk application to wrapping around extremities and joints for heating from three sides at once.

Clinical Protocols

Evidence-based treatment guidance

Recommended starting parameters by indication. Final protocols should be set by the treating clinician.

Myopathies (muscle tissue conditions)
Choose capacitor (condensor field) or coil (induction field) electrode technique depending on the tissue depth and treatment goal
Joint diseases
Monitor the dynamic matching indicator and heat-effective output power value throughout to maintain full dosage control
General deep and superficial tissue heat therapy
Monitor the displayed effective power value throughout the session to maintain full control over dosage
Diplode® application
to avoid operation at idle speed; maintain a 1–3cm distance between electrode and skin for optimal heat
Parameter Setting
Operating mode Continuous (CW) or Pulsed
HF nominal power 400 W (CW) / 1100 W (pulsed)
Pulse duration 200–600 µs
Pulse frequency 10–300 Hz
Treatment timer 1–30 minutes
Power indication Amplitude and effective power, displayed continuously
Electrode technique Capacitor (condensor field) or coil (induction field), selected per treatment goal
