Treatment Indications

Training and Rehabilitation Overview

The Upright Exercise Bike supports controlled cycling exercise for cardiovascular conditioning, lower-limb strengthening, endurance training, and general physical fitness. Its adjustable resistance enables users to progress gradually according to their exercise capacity.

In rehabilitation settings, the bike may be used for low-impact range-of-motion exercises, post-operative conditioning, mobility training, and supervised return to activity. The seat, pedal, and resistance settings should be adjusted according to the patient’s balance, joint movement, muscle strength, and clinical goals.

The bike is suitable for progressive exercise rather than high-intensity training for every user. A qualified professional should determine the appropriate exercise duration, resistance, heart-rate range, and progression for patients with medical or rehabilitation needs.

Clinical Protocols

Evidence-based treatment guidance

Recommended starting parameters by indication. Final protocols should be set by the treating clinician.

Lower-limb strengthening
Use a comfortable seat height and moderate resistance. Stop if sharp joint pain or instability occurs.
Joint-friendly exercise
Start with smooth, low-resistance pedalling and avoid forcing painful movement.
Neurological rehabilitation
Assess balance, coordination, muscle tone, cognition, and ability to mount and dismount safely.
Cardiac rehabilitation
Use only under an approved clinical programme with appropriate heart-rate and symptom monitoring.
Weight-management exercise
Combine cycling with a suitable nutrition and activity programme. Progress gradually and monitor fatigue.
