5-Function ICU Bed

Electric Critical Care Bed
Fully electric 5-function intensive-care bed with backrest, knee-rest, height, Trendelenburg and reverse-Trendelenburg positioning, plus integrated side rails and CPR emergency release.

Overview

The 5-Function ICU Bed is a fully electric hospital bed designed to support intensive care, acute patient management, post-operative recovery, and long-term clinical care. It provides controlled adjustment of the backrest, leg section, bed height, Trendelenburg, and reverse-Trendelenburg positions.

The bed enables healthcare professionals to position patients safely and efficiently while improving access for nursing care, examinations, transfers, procedures, and emergency interventions. Its adjustable height also helps reduce unnecessary bending and manual strain for caregivers.

With a hygienic mattress platform, protective side rails, lockable castors, CPR functionality, and accessory provisions, the bed is suitable for hospitals, intensive care units, emergency departments, recovery rooms, and high-dependency care areas.

Treatment Indications

Critical-care positioning
The bed allows clinicians to position patients according to their condition, treatment requirements, respiratory needs, and level of mobility. Electric adjustment helps reduce unnecessary manual handling.

Respiratory and chest care
The raised-backrest position may support more upright positioning for selected patients. It can also assist with respiratory observation, feeding, communication, and chest-related care when prescribed by the clinical team.

Post-operative recovery
The bed can be adjusted to provide supported positioning after surgery. Backrest, leg, and height adjustment may help with comfort, wound care, monitoring, and assisted transfers.

Emergency and CPR access
The CPR function is intended to provide rapid access to a suitable emergency position. It must be used only by trained healthcare professionals and according to the hospital’s emergency protocol.

Patient transfer and mobilisation
Height adjustment can assist staff during transfers between the bed and a wheelchair, trolley, or other support surface. The bed should be placed at the correct height and the castors locked before transfer.

Pressure-management support
The bed can support frequent repositioning and clinical access for patients at risk of pressure-related skin injury. It should be used together with an appropriate pressure-redistributing mattress and a documented repositioning plan.

Lower-limb elevation
The leg section can be raised to support comfort and selected lower-limb treatment requirements. Positioning should be based on the patient’s diagnosis, circulation, pain, swelling, and medical instructions.

Clinical Protocols

Evidence-based treatment guidance

Recommended starting parameters by indication. Final protocols should be set by the treating clinician.

Respiratory compromise
Raise the backrest gradually and monitor breathing, oxygenation, blood pressure, and patient tolerance. Do not use a position that worsens respiratory distress.
Post-operative recovery
Follow surgical restrictions regarding movement, weight-bearing, drains, tubes, and operative sites.
Pressure-injury risk
Use a suitable pressure-redistributing mattress, maintain skin hygiene, and follow the facility’s turning schedule. The bed alone does not prevent pressure injuries.
Neurological impairment
Check cognition, muscle tone, balance, and ability to operate controls. Prevent entrapment and provide supervision during position changes.
Cardiac monitoring or cardiac care
Use only positions approved by the responsible clinician. Monitor vital signs during major position changes.
